KS1 TUTOR
We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate tutor to provide 1:1 Maths and English tuition to a Year 2 learner in the DT5 area.
This young person is currently unable to access mainstream education due to SEMH needs, and the focus of this provision is to build confidence, self‑esteem, and emotional readiness for learning, rather than applying pressure or strict academic expectations.
About the role:
- 2 hours per week, delivered within the home initially
- KS1 Maths and English support (lesson planning required)
- Strong emphasis on a mentoring‑led approach
- Supporting a Looked After Child (LAC) with an EHCP (shared upon clearance)
- Primary focus on relationship building and engagement, with gradual introduction to learning when the young person feels ready
The ideal candidate will:
- Have a minimum of 6 months' experience within a UK education setting
- Be confident planning and delivering KS1 Maths and English lessons
- Have experience or understanding of SEMH needs
- Be patient, adaptable, and able to build trusting relationships
- Be comfortable working in a low‑pressure, child‑led environment
What we offer:
- Pay between £25-£30 per hour
- Flexibility to build additional hours through other referrals
- Opportunity to make a meaningful difference in a young person's life
If you are passionate about supporting young people to re‑engage with education and thrive at their own pace, we would love to hear from you.
